Cleaning and maintain smart clothes and textils

Since many years becomes developing in electronical komponents for smart clothes of multi Levels. It needs time up to series production, however, the research are growing up quickly. Electronics komponents with his particular Proberties have to made for requirements for daily live adapted. One of this problems arround this, is cleaning and maintain of clothes with an electronical inlays like electrically conductive material or conductive yarns or sensors. The University of Niederrhein will be on working on the nex common years together with cooperation partners.

Mönchengladbach, September 11th, 2024. After indications University Niederrhein is the potential electronical textils, called e-textils very big and the developing ist rapidly growing up. Technical innovations starting most in medical technologys, before hey starting also in other markets. Since many years it gives in medicine and care, but also in Fitness and Sportmarkets increasingly possible applications.

Lightfull clothes for darknes, one aspect of manys in range of protection. Vital- and Powerdates in Sport. Also posibilities clothes to cool up like it needed by production of steel in front of fumace. Or to warm up like e-gloves in cold areas like Snow and wintersport.

All this products and they possibilities expand a wide range ohne Solutions of humans deficits.

For the University of Niederrhein, which place is in Mönchengladbach, Norhrhein-Westfalia, it would be an challenge textils to produce in a kind of sensors inside, conductive materials or other components to clean up and maintance, that they have a long live and stay protectionfull.

The University of Niederrhein (HSNR) and five Partners more will be working two years together in research of this area. In a tie-in-project called, „Verkapselungsmaterialien und Prozesse für E-Textilien (ENAMEL)“ they developed high-precision encapsulaions, in which they enclose electronics and texile elements and thereby secure protecionfull made.

The Challenge is high complex, in the case elctronical components getting in the clothes build-in, the surfaces are often not homogenous. ENAMEL will have simultaniously coating two dimensional leadtextils, and three dimensional electronic under support of Lamination- and Technologie of coatings have to develop, testify and analytical.

While the Fraunhofer-Institut by dependability and Microintegration (IZM) his professional developing has in isolation of small electronical components like LEDs on substances, encapsulate of conductive yrans it is by Developing institute for Textil and Clothes (FTB) of University Niederrhein.

„Auxiliary processtechnical alterations lies the innovation in the developing on elastical encapsulate materials for electronical Textils, which they should have an comfor to wear, have to be strechfull. We are very happy, we have to challenge this together with Fraunhofer Institute IZM and also our czech partners to go on“, tells Dr. Anne Schwarz-Pfeiffer, Professor for funcional textils and clohes on the HSNR and ENAMEL-Leader of project.

Ambitional Project, furthered with 1,1 Million Euro from european public expense. Ministerium of Government in economics and climateprotection (BMWK) gives ENAMEL up to February 2026 with 538.000 Euro. 245.000 getting HSNR, residual goes to Fraunhofer IZM.

Cooperationspartner: Hochschule Niederrhein, Fraunhofer-Institut für Zuverlässigkeit und Mikrointegration (IZM), University of West Bohemia, Clutex, VUB, Forschungskuratorium Textil e.V.
